Special Victims Unit

I am a closet Law & Order fan. I love old episodes, all the spin-offs, marathon Saturdays and even the regular change of characters over the seasons. What did surprise me however was the ongoing controversy over Det. Olivia Benson's sexuality (played by Mariska Hargitay, recent winner of the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama)...

Apparently, the internet chat rooms are all a-buzz with rumors that her rough, masculine, female cop character is a lesbian.

I had to do some research on this one because my wife and I are both huge fans of Hargitay and had assumed that she was straight (probably because we always thought she had a thing for her partner, Det. Stabler).

What I found out was inconclusive, but I did discover a bit about her history that was interesting...

I don't think she's gay because she just had a baby last year. but it is a good show. not quite as good as the original but still good.

The original over the last year has done enough attacking of everything I believe that I have slowly quit watching. While some liberalism is pallatable, the treatment of gun ownership and Christianity has gotten old.

Personally, I just don't care if there are gay characters of course I don't have kids. And it isn't going to change my beliefs but I often wonder if people don't get to tied to the idea of there's to many of this group or not enough of another on something that is make believe.

You wouldn't happen to be the Jason who went to IWU, would you?? If so, I happened to find you quite accidentally. Googling Mariska Hargitay and recognized your name. Not sure if you remember me or not... but I dated a certain fiery tempered red-head that lived in your dorm back in the IWU days. I'm now married (not to the red-head!) with two girls, living in South Carolina. It's all on my blog (everyone has a blog these days). Mine's more of a vlog (blog+video) however. Hope all is well! God bless :)
