Lent

Several good friends of mine have given things up for Lent in the past.

The question for me is, "What do I need to give up?"

Anyone have any real ideas?

I'll consdier the best response and do as it instructs.

I've heard of people giving up a half hour of sleep in the mornings to spend time with God, not driving their car but rather biking or walking to afford more thinking and praying time, doing some reflective journaling at the end of each day, etc. That's all I got...otherwise, there's always chocolate.

Anything that makes you more available to love and serve. I gave up work. ;o)

From your lack of posts I thought you gave up blogging for new years. Seriously, I would give up the one thing you don't think you could live without. Let it be a test of your dependence on God. I don't know what that one thing is for you but you do. Keep us posted.

Hey Jay & Mellie...

Sorry I haven't connected with you guys in sooo long. I've been thinking of you quite often, and I found a link to this blog on Robin Jewett's website! You guys should check out ours, we just started this whole blogging thing. I'm not sure what to tell ya to give up Jay, I'm too late anyway...it's almost Easter! Oh well...how have you guys been? I got your email about moving on...keep us updated on your search. Lots of love, and tell Mel hi for me!

I think you need to give up that one thing that Jesus speaks to the rich young ruler about... the one thing that we just can't seem to give him. For that guy it was money... for us, maybe something else?
